Three Arrested for Dealing marijuana from a home on Merritt St. in Rensselaer
On Monday, February 13, 2017 at approximately 8:38 A.M. Jasper County Sheriff’s’ Narcotics Officers, Rensselaer Police Dept. and Indiana State Police Narcotics Officers executed a search warrant at a residence on East Merritt Street in the city of Rensselaer. The basis of the search warrant was to search for activity associated with the possession and sale of marijuana.
Once the residence had been secured, Law Enforcement Officers located a quantity of processed marijuana along with drug paraphernalia, a large sum of United States Currency, and a loaded firearm. It was also discovered that the residence was covered by remote security cameras that led to a central digital recording device.
On scene investigation revealed that four adults, five minor children, and a sixteen year old male juvenile were all living at the residence. The male juvenile was found to be living in the attached garage. Due to the minor children, Child Protective Services were notified and became part of the active investigation.
Narcotics Officers charged and/or arrested the following individuals that were found to be associated with the alleged criminal activity occurring within the East Merritt Street location:
Aaron W. Hovis, age 29 of Rensselaer, Indiana charged with Dealing Marijuana, a Level 6 Felony and Child Neglect, a Level 6 Felony. Mr. Hovis posted bond of $1255.00 cash.
Bridgette N. Hovis, age 32 of Rensselaer, Indiana charged with Dealing Marijuana, a Level 6 Felony and Child Neglect, a Level 6 Felony. Mrs. Hovis posted bond of $1255.00 cash.
Lauren A. Marlatt, age 27 of Rensselaer, Indiana charged with Dealing Marijuana, a Level 6 Felony and Child Neglect, a Level 6 Felony. Ms. Marlatt posted bond of $1255.00 cash.
As this investigation continues additional charges may be brought to fruition on other adult offenders. The sixteen year old male juvenile was released to a parent from the scene and not charged with any delinquent acts.
