On 9-22-2017 at 12:47 pm Rensselaer Police received a call of a male subject laying on the ground not breathing. Witnesses told police they suspected the male subject had overdosed on heroin. Narcan was administered and the male regained consciousness.

According to probable cause affidavits, Steven Barrett age 56 of Rensselaer works at the location and has an apartment attached. Officers were allowed to search the business. Inside officers found, two cut straws, a large pipe with black burned residue, and a black digital scale. The burnt residue was later field tested and tested positive for methamphetamine. A large pile of mail was found addressed to Steven Barrett at 328 E Walnut St. Inside of four (4) different envelopes, Detective Hughes observed several cut straws and could see residue inside of many of them. She also observed a small corner baggie with a white powder residue which was field tested and tested positive for heroin.
