Cambridge City Woman Arrested for Heroin

Wayne County – A Cambridge City woman was arrested for Possession of Heroin last evening after the car she was riding in was stopped for a traffic violation. Last night just before 8 p.m. Trooper Jacob Ridgway was driving south bound on SR 1, just south of I-70, when he noticed the Pontiac car in front of him drive over the white fog line partially onto the berm.  He stopped the vehicle on SR 1 in the area of Harris Rd.

As Ridgway spoke with the driver and his wife, he became suspicious.  Ridgway called for a K-9 and Wayne County Deputy Tyler Marsh arrived with his partner, “Agar.”  Deputy Marsh took Agar around the outside of the vehicle for an open air sniff and the dog indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A subsequent search by officers found that the passenger, Jamie Pickett, age 39, was in possession of a hypodermic syringe and Heroin.

Further investigation led officers to Pickett’s residence in the 300 block of W. Main in Cambridge City, where they found more Heroin.  Jamie Picket was arrested and charged with Level 6 Felony Possession of a Narcotic Drug, Possession of a Syringe and Maintaining a Common Nuisance. In addition she was charged with misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Trooper Ridgeway was assisted in his investigation by ISP Sergeant Dave Whitinger and Trooper Bryan Rumple; Wayne County Deputies Tyler Marsh, Brandon Skaggs and Brandon Krofta as well as Cambridge City Officer Tim Gard. Anyone with information about illegal drug activity may call the Indiana State Police Drug Tip Line at 1-800-453-4756, or the Pendleton Post at 765-778-2121. Tips can be made and kept anonymous.
