Alleged Drunk Driver Crashes on I-465 then Leads Troopers on Short Chase
Indianapolis, IN – An Indianapolis man is in jail this morning after crashing into another vehicle on I-465 and fleeing the scene when Troopers arrived.
Just after 3:30 this morning Senior Trooper Joel Flores was called to investigate a two vehicle crash on I-465 northbound near Pendleton Pike. When Flores arrived a Nissan Sentra sped away leading him on a chase that exited I-465 onto Pendleton Pike and eventually to Maple Lane in Lawrence where the driver surrendered peacefully. Neither driver was injured in the crash.
The driver of the Nissan was identified as 25 year old Jesus Beltran of Indianapolis. During the pursuit Beltran allegedly threw marijuana from the vehicle which was recovered by responding officers. He was arrested on the preliminary charges of:
- Driving Under the Influence (alcohol)
- Possession of Marijuana
- Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle
- Leaving the Scene of a Crash
- Obstruction of Justice
These charges are merely preliminary, Trooper Flores will work with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office to determine formal charges.
