Afternoon Crash on I-69 Sends Three to the Hospital
Indianapolis, IN – A serious crash on the I-69 southbound ramp to I-465 sent three people to the hospital with serious injuries. The crash closed the southbound lanes of I-69 just south of Fishers for nearly 45 minutes while emergency crews tended to the injured, investigated the crash and cleaned up the wreckage.
Preliminary investigation led Troopers to believe a 2015 Toyota, driven by 61 year old Edna Harsley of Indianapolis, collided with the back of a 2015 Harley Davidson. Both vehicles then left the roadway, the Toyota overturned down an embankment and came to rest upside down on railroad tracks under the interstate. The Harley was being driven by Jack Hubbard with Deanna Hubbard as a passenger. All three people were transported by ambulance to area hospitals. Jack and Deanna Hubbard were not wearing helmets, they are listed in critical but stable condition. Harlsey suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash, however as with all serious crashes, the drivers were tested for alcohol. The results of those tests are pending. Investigating Officers believe excessive speed could be a factor in this crash however the investigation is ongoing. Harsley was cited for following too closely and speed too fast to avoid a collision.
Press release from Indiana State Police.
